Rico Rushworth, solo name RicoR, is an 18-year old American-German drummer, beat boxer, looper, rapper, singer, and stage actor from and residing in the Santa Cruz area. He has over 10 years of experience gigging in music and theatre alike, and has worked with some incredibly talented Santa Cruz musicians and groups, including beatboxing for the Mayim A Cappella Trio, the SC Performing Arts A Cappella Singers, and the Kirby Jazz Choir. Currently, he beatboxes for the Santa Cruz blues group Richard Salzberg and Band.
As a drummer, Rico has played with the likes of the Santa Cruz based BIYOB (Be in Your Own Band) music program, Jam Camp West, as well as the Kuumbwa Jazz Improv Workshop. Currently he plays with two Santa Cruz based rock bands Next Exit and Common Cents, both with the Be Natural Music program in Santa Cruz, as well as the Cabrillo College Jazz Repertory Workshop and Latin Jazz Ensemble, as well as working freelance with both drums and beatboxing.
He also sings tenor in the Cabrillo College Chorale. Rico is an avid teacher/tutorialist in drums, beatbox, and rap, and is also a solo looper/songwriter, something that he does freelance as well.
